Chapple stays on as Lancashire skipper
9:03am Monday 5th December 2011
GLEN CHAPPLE will continue as Lancashire captain for a fourth season as the Red Rose defends its County Championship title in 2012.
Having been appointed as captain in 2009, the fast-bowling all-rounder will lead the team during what will be his 21th season at the Club.
Last season he took 55 Championship wickets at an average of 19.51, which included three five-wicket hauls, and scored 365 runs. He also picked up the club’s player of the year award for the second successive season.
He said: “I am proud to be the Captain of this great club and I look forward to leading this group of talented players into what we hope will be another exciting year.”
Coach Peter Moores said: “Glen is an outstanding captain and we have forged a fantastic working relationship which I am looking forward to continuing over the coming year.
"His captaincy – tactically - and his ability to deal with people, have been key factors in our development over the last few seasons.
"In my opinion his greatest strength is he trusts and respects his players, which gives confidence to everyone in the set-up.”
